Roofing cost
I am very interested in your log home kits and I am wondering if and what is included for the roof. I am under the impression that the log home kit is weather tight, but I could be wrong because in the the list of materials for the base kits there are no roofing materials. What would the cost be for complete roofing for the Tennessee if you offer it?

Can anyone help me out on this? I am about to close on some land and would like to have an idea of what I am getting into as far as going with a log home or just going with a conventional frame house.

I am just a customer but it will depend on a couple of factors for the roof of your new home. The area will determine the amount of insulation you will need and then whether to go with conventional trusses or ridgeline trusses (building code). If you are going to go with a fully foamed attic or blown in or fiberglass batt insulation are all factors to consider. Quite a bit of information can be found on the internet to help you make the correct decision for the climate where you will live..AS far as frame vs. log home, the log walls will provide insulation against the outside with minimal maintenance. With framed walls you will have to insulate with either foam or fiberglass batt. In a price comparison the logs will be slightly more but will provide much better safety than a frame house. Have you ever tried to burn a chunk of log when you are camping? Takes a long time when compared to 2-by lumber with air gaps.
