Tranquility and Lakeview Scaled Down
Both my sister and I are planning to build log homes on neighboring 4 acre wooded lots. After extensive reseach and growing up in a pine log home, we are both leaning towards cypress. I am planning on a build start of Summer 2009 and she plans to start 2010. I will already have water, septic, and electricity in place. I am interested in the Tranquility model and she in the Lakeview. Both plans are bigger in square footage than needed. Is it possible to scale down these models? I don't want to change the footprint of the house. I would be looking for a Tranquility model in the region of 2500 sq ft and she in the Lakeview around 3000. If this is possible, any idea in cost for these.? I know the package price for the 3000 sq ft Tranquility is around $143,000. Also, are your logs air or kiln dried? Does this necessarily matter? I have heard kiln drying cypress can damage the integrity of the wood, but in researching I have not found any scientific study that explicity states this. Thanks for any help!

Thank you for your question. Our design department can would with you to get the look and feel of both the Tranquility model, and the Lakewood model in the square footage you desire. You are still several years out on pricing and buildout cost...my crystal ball would suggest that turn key cost will be running in the $150-$180 square foot range in 2010. Our logs are air dried ...cypress with it's ttight growth rings allow for air drying compared to pine which always needs to be kiln dried.
